RJ A solid offering of death/doom metal covered in a thick film of sludge. This album is heavy. The production and performance give a very deep and full feeling while even being dissonant at times. I had never heard of Gloson before this release but they will now remain on my radar. 7/10 Favorite track: Tirsa Vassals.

Darknight Here we have another record that may end up on alot of AOTY lists, probably going to end up on mine. The Rift is absolutely monstrous, magnitude of heaviness and has that titanic sound of feeling like your breath has been taken from you. I say one word, MASTERPIECE. Gloson have created an extreme stunning piece of art👏🤘 Favorite track: Windbearer.

In the summer of 2012, Gloson saw the first light of day. A group of individuals came together with three things in mind: to create intense earth-shattering music; to take a leap into the vast dreamscape of feverish dreams, weird creatures and mental instability; to break every limit that would appear in their creative horizon.

On March 18, 2022, the band is set to release their long-awaited second full-length album The Rift. The album features a Hexalogy of songs inspired by humanity in its worst and purest form and is an attempt to pursue the meaning of it all and to foreshadow our demise through it.

Gloson embarked on their first journey to the world in 2014 with their debut digital EP Yearwalker. This primitive, yet crushing EP was well-received by the media and was celebrated by re-releasing on an LP format in the following year by two labels — Catatonic State and Art of Propaganda.

After the release of Yearwalker, the creative wheels continued to turn. Live shows started to get booked and were followed by the release of the debut full-length Grimen, which was this time, released by Art of Propaganda alone, at the beginning of 2017.

As once stated by The Sludgelord, this album was a breathtaking achievement for a band that’s just getting started, which attracted further followers and inspired the band to write the gloomy concept EP Mara to prepare for the next full-length album.

For the next album, Gloson decided to take their time. Whilst the subject of the past releases were focused on their personal experiences and the dwelling of the human psyche, the band instead this time chose to lift their heads and looked outwards to the world in its vastness for inspiration.

As a result, more gloomy, primal and intense sophomore album The Rift was born. Isolated in the middle of nowhere, Gloson recorded this album right before the COVID-19 hell broke loose and for the first time, allowed someone else to be in charge of the recording process, to put all their energy on being purely creative and productive whilst in the studio. “It was a very liberating feeling”, Gloson comments, who previously carried out almost everything related to production themselves.

The Rift is scheduled to be released on March 18, 2022 on LP, CD and Digital; recorded and mixed by Ulf Blomberg from Hoborec Recording Studio and mastered by Magnus Lindberg from Cult of Luna.

about

“The Rift” is the second full-length album of Swedish Sludge/Post-Metal band Gloson, where a Hexalogy of songs was inspired by humanity in its worst and purest form, that is, a meditation through cruelty as well as the indifference towards it that has been seen throughout history. The album is an attempt to pursue the meaning of it all and to foreshadow our demise through it.

about

Gloson Sweden

In the summer of 2012 in Sweden, a group of individuals came together with a solitary goal in mind, to create dark music offset with the smallest glimmer of hope. Instead of being inspired by political religious themes, the band turned to their own personal and internal wastelands to see what would manifest from their subconscious; writing within this very cruel world. ... more
